Y is for You and Me

My A-Z Theme is based on my books, the Game On series. You won’t need to have read them to follow this story, since it’s slightly removed from the full plot, like a side story. What it will do is give you a glimpse into my characters, and a chance to get to know them a little bit, PLUS, during the story, you will get a mini tour of parts of the UK! The posts will come from two of my main characters, Leah Walker and Radleigh McCoy.  If this is your first time here, please start at the letter A. :D

Y - You and Me
(Leah)

“Radleigh,” I said, snuggling into his side. It was still raining, we were still in bed with no plans to get up anytime soon, and I was in one of my thoughtful moods, which so often happened when it was dark and stormy outside. “You know before you said you thought it was weird we haven’t argued?”

“Yeah.”

“Do you think we’re just… I mean… are we really being ourselves?”

Radleigh shifted over onto his side to look at me. “What do you mean?”

“I mean in L.A, when I first met you, I didn’t care what you thought of me because I couldn’t stand you anyway. And you didn’t care what I thought of you. We were honest. Mostly.”

“Are you saying you aren’t being yourself now?”

“No. I am. I’m still being me, I just feel like I’ve…  I don’t know what it is.”

I truly didn’t. All I knew was that being with Radleigh made me feel different. I know everyone feels different when they fall in love, because you suddenly stop focusing on what you want as an individual and start thinking about what you want as a couple, and the world seems different. Suddenly things I thought were out of reach were right in front of me. But it was unsettling, too. Being with Radleigh made me happier than I’d ever been, but I hadn’t quite gotten used to being part of an “us” instead of just “me”.

“I don’t think either of us were being ourselves around each other in L.A,” Radleigh said.

“Maybe that’s it. The parts of us we showed each other were the worst parts.”

Radleigh flashed his trademark smug grin. “And you still fell in love with me anyway.”

I rolled my eyes. There were some parts of him that would never change. Like the arrogant berk part.

“Yes, I did. And now I’m stuck with you.”

“Damn straight.”

Can you believe we are almost at the end of A-Z already?!

That means there are just two days left to enter to win one of ten e-copies of Game On! (Oh wow, according to Rafflecopter, at the time of posting there are just 14 hours left!)

Today's teaser comes from the latest book in the Game On Series, Sidelined.
Blurb: At the age of twenty-one, Bree Collinson has more than she ever dreamed of. A handsome husband, a fancy house, and more shoes than Carrie Bradshaw and Imelda Marcos combined. But having everything handed to her isn’t the way Bree wants to live the rest of her life. When an idea to better herself pops into her head, she doesn’t expect her husband to question her, and keep her tied by her apron strings to the kitchen.

Isolated and unsure who to turn to, Bree finds herself falling back into a dangerous friendship, and developing feelings for the only person who really listens to her. Torn between her loyalty to her husband and her attraction to a man who has the perfect family she always wanted, she has some tough choices to make.

While Bree tries to figure out what she wants, a tragedy rocks the Westberg Warriors, triggering some dark memories, and pushing her to take a look at what’s really important.

  1. I love dark and stormy thundershowers. The smell of freshness, staying warm inside. The ran on the roof. I find it very relaxing.

Hard to believe this is the 2nd to last day of A to Z. It went fast.

  6. So cute: And now I'm stuck with you.

I'm totally buying your series, once this hop is over and my brain functions again...and once I've gotten through my editorial deadlines...and once I've finished packing my house...and once I've got my marketing plan together for book 2...

Or maybe I'll just fix my time stopper. Yup. That's what it's going to have to be. ;)

IWSG: Performance anxiety

Welcome to the August edition of IWSG, hosted by the amazing Alex J.Cavanaugh ! So, as most of you know by now - because I haven't shut up about it LOL - my first novel, Game On, has been released. The blog tour officially starts next week (YAY!) but I find myself becoming increasingly nervous. A blog tour not only highlights my book, but me. What if people don't like me? What if my guest posts suck, and everyone thinks I'm boring? If I can't engage people in 300 words on a blog, they probably aren't going to pick up my book. And then there's the "what happens next" question. I plan to make Game On into a series, which feels a bit arrogant of me. I don't know how many people are going to like the first book, should I really be planning to keep the series going? So far, Game On has actually been incredibly well received. I've had great reviews, so maybe I shouldn't worry about people not liking it, but what if Book Two isn't as goo

Dust It Off Bloghop!

Welcome to day one of the Dust It Off Bloghop, hosted by Theresa Paolo and Cortney Pearson ! This hop is all about the WIPs you wrote, and then shelved! Okay, so I am teaming up with Clare Dugmore for this one, because back in 2006 - yup, we've known each other THAT long lol! - we started to write a book together. Unfortunately, other commitments got in the way and we never finished it - but even so many years on - it's still something we remember fondly, so we're going to dust it off for you! The first day, May 3rd: We want you to post a 1-2 sentence pitch (Great way to practice pitches) about the shelved WIP. Here is the pitch Clare and I came up with: For best friends Caitlin and Tori, their first acting job out of Uni opens up a whole new world for them – unfortunately, it wasn’t the world they were expecting. When the strains of adult life and tangled relationships threaten to ruin their friendship, they are forced to take a look at what’s really importan
